Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense? 

Our Europe legal team has built an innovative process that allows to monitor new/changing legislation across Europe, review it, update the internal teams and initiate projects for implementations required pursuant to these laws. MoneyGram operates in a highly regulated financial environment therefore remaining on top of legislative changes is critical. Such innovative process leverages both external counsels and technology but is mostly based on internal resources therefore was implemented with minimal costs.  

What are some of the main trends impacting the industry sector you work in in Italy? 

The following EU legislations will surely constitute a leading trend, in the financial industry also in Italy, for the following years since all these legislations have a window of 2-3 years from their issuance and their entry into force: (a) review of second payment services directive (PSD2) and issuance of new PSD3; (b) digital operational resilience act (also known as DORA); (c) unique AML authority for Europe and consolidated rules for AML across Europe (AMLA package).  

How would you assess the impact of new technologies on the legal landscape in Italy, and what measures would you propose to leverage these technologies while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations? 

Technology already drives the business in Italy; therefore, technology will drive also the Italian legal landscape even more than already happens today. I strongly believe that legal operations and legal design are two resources that will allow to rely even more on technology and at the same time will allow the legal department to remain complaint with the relevant laws and regulations. 

What is a cause, business-related or otherwise, you are passionate about, and why? 

As mentioned above I strongly believe legal design will help to better manage technologies, but also improve communication and work deliverables in a world that constantly grows in complexities to be solved and data to be managed.
