An in-house lawyer with extensive international, commercial and compliance experience, Tanya Jaeger de Foras serves as the vice president and chief legal officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa for Whirlpool, an American multinational manufacturer and marketer of home appliances. De Foras is responsible for all legal support and strategic legal advice to regional business functions, overseeing regional litigation and compliance practices. As a member of Whirlpool’s leadership team she oversees a department of 52 people, contributing to the strategic advice to senior executives. De Foras has a strong functional dotted line to the global general counsel of Whirlpool and is a member of the global leader’s staff. She is part of the EMEA president’s business staff, leader and supervisor of legal professionals within the EMEA legal department, and a driver of business processes and practices within the organisation. Prior to this role she spent two years of her career at Luxottica Group, where she helped preside over the global redesign of distribution model for the Ray-Ban eyewear brand. She also spent a large part of her in-house legal career at Pfizer, where she joined in 2002 as senior corporate counsel, for Europe based in New York, and then transferred to assistant general counsel based in Rome, taking on the task of restructuring and the integration of Wyeth into the Italian part of the business.
