Roberto Luca Moresco serves as the general counsel for the Italian clothing group Fashion Box, which trades under the Replay Blue Jeans brand, and comprises of 26 subsidiaries with a consolidated annual turnover of over €200m. As the general counsel he heads the group’s legal department comprising of four lawyers and reports directly to the CEO, CFO and board of directors. He has become a central reference point for the group’s network of companies and sits on the board as director of the group’s UK subsidiary, Chinese subsidiary WFOE and Japanese subsidiary Kabushiki Kaisha. Moresco’s day-to day activities involve liaising with senior management across all aspects of the group’s operations and representing the group in all legal matters and together with his team he is fully involved in all strategic decisions of the company. On discussing the impact this has had on his career growth over the years, Moresco says: ‘Having grown professionally within an international organisation over the past 15 years, I have developed a well-grounded understanding of commercial realities and tailor legal advice with business requirements at the forefront’. Moresco started his career at Fashion Box in 2002 as a corporate legal counsel, his role has since morphed into many various positions within the fashion company; in 2008 he was promoted to legal counsel, head of international legal affairs in Italy and in January 2015 he additionally took on the role as director for Fashion Box London. In April 2016 he was promoted to general counsel and with this appointment he has worked to raise the profile of the legal department, clearly defining internal roles. ‘I strongly believe in investing in my team, encouraging autonomy and growth so that they can manage projects independently and liaise directly with senior management and external counsel’, says Moresco.
