Lorenzo Fronteddu is a legal director with 15 years of domestic and international legal advisory experience in the FMCG and retail industries. As an a experienced manager with a strong track record in enhancing internal processes, reducing costs and the management of a diverse environment of subject matter experts, in 2015, Fronteddu was selected to lead the legal team of JT International Italia, overseeing the legal processes that involve the company’s 119 employees plus 180 field representatives from all over Italy. Today JTI is well placed in the Italian tobacco market with a turnover of €9bn and it is here where Fronteddu is in charge of leading the legal function in the country, in order to anticipate future trends in the tobacco industry and protect the company from potential legal risks. Fronteddu sits on the member of the executive committee of the company and has led the transformation of the company set up from commercial agency to distribution including the contract negotiation with a value of €40m. Fronteddu started his in-house legal career with global fashion brand Benetton, and progressed his career in Italian multinational dairy and food corporation, Parmalat Group as group IP manager. At the time he was part of a team that had to handle the restructuring of the Group as a result of Europe’s largest financial fraud, resulting in Parmalat’s successful listing on the stock exchange, an event he claims was a ‘tremendous step’ in his career. After a short stint at Kraft Foods (now Mondelēz) he moved to GB Food Group where he served as legal and corporate affairs manager from 2009 to 2015 and was responsible for setting up the legal department, as well as the litigation strategy of a patent litigation with a main competitor.
