Gennaro Imbimbo has been the head of legal and corporate affairs and privacy at Fondo Italiano d’Investimento SGR since July 2011. He graduated from the University of Naples Federico II and was admitted to the Bar in Italy in 1996. He has worked as a senior lawyer in the corporate finance and merchant banking division of Intesa Sanpaolo and previously for the equity investments company IMI Investimenti (wholly owned by Intesa Sanpaolo) where he was head of legal affairs and corporate secretariat. Imbimbo also previously worked in private practice at Studio Pirola Pennuto Zei & Associati and later for Telepiù Group (now Sky Group) where he was head of corporate affairs from 1998 to 2000. As head of legal and corporate affairs and privacy for Fondo Italiano d’Investimento, Imbimbo has led the legal team by providing strategic legal opinions ensuring a high standard of legal services provided internally, and with his technical skills. In particular he has overseen the transfer of the units of Fondo Italiano d’Investimento to Neuberger Berman, the consequently change of the management company and the acquisition of a large number of participations (both direct and indirect) operating in various fields of activity. About his management style Imbimbo says that he has ‘improved as a “problem solver” in order to anticipate problems and suggest strategic opportunities and in particular to provide an early identification and prevention of risks.
