Emanuela Crippa currently manages, leads and monitors all legal aspects linked to finance and credit areas within Pirelli Group in Italy and abroad across 13 countries including Brazil, China, Russia, the UK and US specifically supporting and leading a number of key transactions for the Pirelli Group. Crippa joined Pirelli in March 2017, where she has since worked closely with senior vice president and chief legal officer Nicola Verdicchio, a renowned lawyer in the Italian in-house market. Crippa’s in-house career started in 1999 where she worked within senior roles for top-league professional and investment banking organisations such as Studio Legale Carnelutti, UniCredit Group and Crédit Agricole Group. She spent almost 19 years dealing with legal and regulatory matters connected with the banking industry, which gave her the foundation of financial corporate law she required to fulfil her role at Pirelli. Her previous role at UniCredit introduced her to the capital markets world and – jointly with her further experience in Crédit Agricole Group – allowed her to become one of the most specialised in-house legal counsel for debts capital markets legal documentation within the Italian market. ‘My new experience in Pirelli allows me to complete the picture and move to the other side of the negotiation table. My goal is to achieve the highest result in protecting and developing the business of Pirelli, by sharing knowledge with my new colleagues and putting together all the relevant expertise in order to set up in a smooth and safe way new finance and innovative transactions in Pirelli pre and post its relisting on the Italian Stock Exchange’, says Crippa. Although she has been at Pirelli for a few months she has worked on the refinancing of Pirelli financial position pre-IPO with loan facilities, one of the biggest transactions in Europe in 2017 and on Pirelli’s IPO, the biggest equity transaction in continental Europe in 2017 in terms of capitalisation and orders collected. Crippa believes that her success in these transactions is due to her first-class skills in managing under pressure, complex and matrixed transactions and in drafting and negotiating with the banks and relevant set of agreements with a problem solving and forward-thinking approach.
