General counsel Roisin Sweeney explains that Marlet Property Group’s market is ‘very fast moving’, requiring the company’s in-house legal team to be both agile and well-prepared in order to keep up: ‘We have to be quicker and more prepared than competitors and have everything ready to go in order to make sure deals get closed. When big sites are coming up for sale, we do due diligence and finance up front so that we can close sales quickly. On the litigation side, we are also seeing a lot of fast-moving claims, and have innovated in this area by making law on a number of our cases’. The team has been very busy of late, having acquired a number of high-profile sites in Dublin and elsewhere. Roisin claims the team’s success in supporting these and other projects lie in its internal culture which she characterises as being ‘dynamic, commercial, fast-moving and team-focused’. As well as herself, she points out the excellent work that senior counsel Aimee Kirwan has done, fuelled by the ‘knowledge and energy’ that she brings to the table, as having had a key role in a number of successful projects.
