Richard Henry is head of legal and corporate affairs at Beauparc Group, and began his legal career working in a small private practice boutique between 2005 and 2012, specialising in commercial and employment law, before moving in-house in 2012 as an international lawyer of a FTS 250 Company, Britvic. He then became head of legal at Britvic Ireland in 2015 before moving to Beauparc in his current role in 2017. During his time at Beauparc, Henry has worked tirelessly establishing, developing and mentoring a high calibre group of lawyers in the company’s legal and compliance department. He has overseen massive accelerative growth. In the last two years Beauparc has acquired 12 companies in Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands. Henry is part of the senior management team at Beauparc developing long term, sustainable strategic plans based upon putting Beauparc’s customers first whilst maintaining and striving for top class governance. Henry highlights that ‘the single most important transaction [I have] been involved during the last two years related to the recent acquisition by Blackstone Private Equity of a substantial minority stake in Beauparc which completed in March 2019. This acquisition is a truly momentous step for the Beauparc group as we continue to grow and establish ourselves as being the number one waste and utilities company in Ireland whilst continuing to gain a footprint in UK market’. Henry has established a fully functioning and highly responsive proactive legal and compliance team with sole focus of being dedicated to mitigating risk, managing and advising internal stakeholders in a timely and commercial fashion whilst embedding good governance and compliance into the Beauparc way of business. He adds that ‘good corporate governance and continuous improvement in the legal department will continue to be of fundamental importance to the sustainability of a business; this is irrespective of the size of the business’. He identifies that this is achieved by ‘regulating and regularising the affairs of a business, via the legal department, in an effective, streamlined and efficient manner’.
