About

Linda NiChualladh, head of privacy (legal) EMEA at Citi continues to demonstrate best-in-class talent in the areas of competition, anti-trust and privacy law. A specialist in these areas after extensive graduate study including a PhD from the EUI in Florence, Italy as well as in private practice, Linda’s in-house career is extensive and includes time working for the chair of the Irish Competition Authority, as well as with the An Post group. In 2018, she took on a new role in a new industry, financial services, and took up her current position as head of privacy (legal) EMEA at Citi. In this role, she advises thousands of lawyers at Citi globally, not just about EU laws, but about privacy, regulatory policy and global trends generally in data and tech areas. She works with EMEA lawyers and runs frequent sessions and conference calls on privacy, tech, and data protection matters looking at practical day-to-day issues, technical legal solutions and how to connect with each other and create better networks and to support each other. She created a legal newsletter that goes out with information about privacy, tech, policy, courses, hot topics and contact details. She highlights that she, ‘loves learning new things and wanted to be involved in helping the relatively new Dublin legal team benefit from the wisdom, tips and legal prowess of all of the great lawyers I have met both in-house and outside our company’. She leads the knowledge committee for Dublin with a co-chair and committee and designed a programme of events for Citi’s Dublin lawyers focused on all aspects of in-house life. NiChualladh says, ‘we’ve done this with very little and everyone seems energised and enthused. It’s been a really great initiative. We get to view lawyers in a really positive light. We have also focused on non-lawyers as speakers for our legal audience as most of us will likely not interact with other lawyers every day because of the nature of our work and how global it is’.
