Yum! is a Fortune 500 listed company that owns some of the most well-recognised restaurant brands globally, such as Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut. Positioned at the focal point of the company’s Indian operation is a widely acclaimed legal team currently managed by Navdeep Choudhary. Besides providing oversight of Yum! India’s legal, compliance and corporate affairs across its 800 outlets in the country, the team has been a driving force behind the company’s ambitious regional expansion strategy. The team has also supported the recent reorganisation of Yum! in India, supporting the sale of more than 300 of its outlets to private equity owned Sapphire Foods India. Choudhary took the helm of the legal function in July 2017, replacing Priyanka Sinha who had led the team for over three years. Formerly senior level lawyer at FoodWorks and Shoppers Stop, Choudhary has been described as a ‘very hard working and dedicated person’ with a ‘good understanding of legal subject matters’ by nominators. Choudhary has also been widely credited by his peers for his skills and expertise in consumer law, dispute resolution and management of litigations.
