After the vacation of the position of group general counsel by the long standing Bharat Varsani – who had occupied the position for over 17 years only to move into a more strategic and advisory legal role – Shuva Mandel took over as the day-to-day leader of the Tata Sons legal team in July 2017. Acting as the holding company of Indian business giant Tata Group, the Tata Sons legal team employ a number of legal professionals to serve the business offering commercially-focused legal advice pertaining to all relevant group companies and business areas. The legal team of Tata Sons will be crucial in the upcoming ventures of the business, including the recent decision to make Tata Sons a private company in an ambitious move to make it more agile and better able to roll out its new projects and subsidiaries.
