Dr. Sanjeev Gemawat is a general counsel and corporate secretary; a thought leader and strategist with a business orientation. He is a chartered secretary from India and the UK, a chartered accountant, and a cost and management accountant. In addition, he holds postgraduate qualifications in Law and a Doctorate in Insider Trading. 

Sanjeev currently serves as the group general counsel for Vedanta Group. Sanjeev has nearly three decades of experience spanning various industries such as automobile, real estate, hospitality, manufacturing, among others. Sanjeev has previously been associated with Indian and multinational corporations like DLF, JCB, Olivetti, GBC and Modicorp. 

Sanjeev is an acclaimed speaker and author on various contemporary legal and industry-specific issues. He has shared his views at various national and international conferences and has also played an active role in various committees and delegations formed by industry and professional bodies, where he has interacted with multilateral trade organisations.

Furthermore, Sanjeev is one of the founding members of the General Counsel Association of India (GCAI). He is a staunch advocate for the statutory recognition of the role of general counsel and is committed to working towards achieving this objective.
