About

Eiffage Infraestructuras is the Spanish subsidiary of the French civil engineering group that is skilled in construction, concessions, infrastructure and energy, employing more than 64,000 people globally. The legal team of Eiffage Infraestructuras ‘has materialised important mercantile operations in 2018 and has obtained innovative judgments in the contentious administrative jurisdiction’, says a nominator. The team includes four senior in-house lawyers and one insurance manager, where the most senior member is Óscar Galán, serving as legal director, responsible for supervising and coordinating all legal matters in Spain as well as giving support to all the departments of the group. Juan Diego Moreno, Diego Marín, Ramón Segarra and Gaspar Ruiz are senior in-house lawyers managing all legal proceedings in commercial, administrative, corporate, labour and regulatory law. Mario Barajas is the insurance manager who negotiates all insurance matters for the group. During the last two years, the team has actively helped the company adapt to new legal frameworks, for example, GDPR, the new Spanish Public Procurement Act, and the latest reforms of the Criminal Code in relation to the liability of legal entities, all bringing significant changes to regulations in force. Recently, the legal department has been involved in various deals, including acquisition transactions, purchase of offices, and the establishment of new branches in different countries. The legal team is keen to ‘ensure regulatory compliance, implement and comply with good corporate governance practices, both for companies and their managers’, according to Galán. ‘Each day, due to the fast-paced business world, it is necessary to give agile and effective responses to the questions raised to the legal department. We have been working in corporate compliance for several years, analysing the legal and operational risks faced by our group and advising and training employees. We also created a whistleblowing channel last year’, he explains.
