Established in 1968, the Spanish hotel chain Meliá Hotels International is the 17th largest worldwide and currently operates 374 hotels in 40 countries under several well recognised brands. Juan Ignacio Pardo leads a team of 30 employees who perform a legal, internal audit, corporate governance and risk control function at the hotel chain. The legal department provides support to the development of the company in EMEA, Asia Pacific and Latin America on a variety of international corporate and commercial law issues, which include drafting hospitality-related commercial contracts, negotiating and drafting financial agreements, conducting M&A deals and coordinating the efforts of external advisors. Praised extensively for its substantial expertise in commercial, international, real estate and intellectual property law, Pardo’s team has assisted the company with its efforts to expand globally by seamlessly drafting management and hotel lease contracts for new hotels across the Netherlands, Croatia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, and others.
