Theo Pang, vice president and general counsel for Asia Pacific, leads the legal team at VF, a world leading active clothing and footwear company, with brands such as Vans, The North Face and Timberland among others. The team consists of three lawyers in China working on IP and contract affairs, one in Taiwan working on contract and commercial matters, one in India with a commercial litigation speciality, and three lawyers and two non-lawyers in Hong Kong handling, commercial law for the sourcing side of the business, legal compliance, corporate governance, and public sector relations. In Hong Kong, there is also a security director and an ethics and compliance director. Theo Pang has grown the legal department of VF from a ‘one man band law department’ when he joined in 2013 to a 10 person legal team in Asia Pacific in five years. He credits a culture of treating everyone in the team with respect and encouraging his team to speak their minds to this rapid success in development, and this ethos creates the environment in which they can manage the high profile sale and brand acquisitions and all other legal
matters involved in the global corporation.
