Chief Legal Director | Microsoft Hong Kong
Amy is the Chief Legal Director of Microsoft Hong Kong and a member of the company’s leadership team. She leads all legal affairs activities at Microsoft Hong Kong and plays a key role in artificial intelligence, privacy, cybersecurity, compliance, and other legal and regulatory issues.
Amy has more than 25 years of experience in the legal profession. Before joining Microsoft in 2010, she was in private practice at an international law firm, specialising in intellectual property and information technology law. In that role, she advised multinational corporations and local blue-chip clients on a wide range of IP and IT matters, as well as litigation and commercial matters, in Hong Kong and mainland China. In 2016, Amy was named by a leading legal publication to its Asia ‘40 under 40’ list, which recognises top lawyers under the age of 40 for their work on important deals, key disputes, and other high-quality matters in the region.
Amy is currently a committee member of the InnoTech Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong. From 2012 to 2019, she served as Chairperson of the Hong Kong and Macau Committee of BSA | The Software Alliance. In that capacity, she worked closely with government and industry bodies on legislative, public policy, and intellectual property education initiatives.
Amy is passionate about technology and believes in its ability to empower individuals and organiastions to make a positive difference and achieve more. She is active within the General Counsel community and leads a number of projects aimed at empowering the legal industry through artificial intelligence.
Amy graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Hong Kong. She is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong and in England and Wales, and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E).
