Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense? 

At Eurobank we have restructured our legal teams to reinforce the corporate culture and to work in a more efficient way for the benefit of our internal customers. Through this restructuring the in-house teams are now linear and directly involved in the various projects in close co-operation with internal and external partners. The linear approach enhanced the engagement of each legal team member, further improved the value and quality of the legal services provided to internal customers and intensified the group spirit and interaction of internal teams with external partners. 

What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in? 

As we are working in a very dynamic organisation my team constantly face challenging transactions and projects. In the recent past these transactions include the efficient management of the non-performing exposures of the group through securitisation transactions, the group corporate restructuring and landmark M&A transactions in, and outside Greece. My team is also heavily involved in the legal design of innovative investment products and provide continuous legal support to the selling teams of the Group. 

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this? 

Our team adopt work behaviours that promote group values. It is important for us to learn & self-improve with every opportunity, to take initiatives aiming to achieve high quality results in the organisation, even when we face adversity, to build mutually beneficial relationships when we interact with clients or colleagues, to develop future proof solutions and minimise complexity, and to gain other people’s trust. These are values of our organisation and based on these values we make a rigorous selection of our external partners and regularly reconsider our business relationship with external partners.
