Part of the Latsis Group and listed on the main market of the Athens Exchange, LAMDA Development is the leader in Greece’s retail real estate sector, with successful diversification in the office and residential sectors also. Chief legal counsel John Giannakopoulos joined the firm in 2006 and in recent years has been involved in a number of landmark transactions for the company.

In 2014 he not only assisted in overseeing Blackstone’s acquisition of a 10% share in LAMDA but was also involved in the company’s agreement with The Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund for the acquisition of the shares of the Hellinikon Airport, in a deal that will aim to transform the plot of the former Hellinikon Airport into the largest privately funded investment ever in Greece. In 2017, Giannakopoulos was credited for his role in the strategic cooperation agreed with Värde Partners for the sale of a minority stake in subsidiary company LAMDA Malls.

In the same year he also was commended for overseeing LAMDA Development’s purchase of The Mall Athens, one of the largest shopping and leisure centres in Southeastern Europe. Giannakopoulos obtained his undergraduate law degree from the University of Athens and completed his has an LLM from a British university.
