Since joining the Greek mobile marketing company Velti in September 2009, Catherine Karanikola has achieved an impressive operational overhaul of the internal legal department which has resulted in noticeable improvements to its function. These changes include the creation of a centralised data repository and filing system, the development of a legal contract playbook, the introduction of measurable targets for the legal team’s performance and the update of all corporate policies to be in line with applicable laws.

Besides these improvements, Karanikola is also credited for her work on Velti Group’s listing on Nasdaq in November 2011, as well as its subsequent corporate restructuring in 2015 and the demerger from Lumata Group in 2016. Since 2014, Karanikola has been involved as both general legal counsel and operations director of Velti, and as part of the internal executive team has made efforts to stabilise the Group and return it to profitability. Prior to joining Velti, Karanikola enjoyed spells as a senior associate at both SFSP Law and Karatzas & Partners.
