Based in Athens, Gerolymatos International is a global healthcare company that can trace its roots back to 1923. With a wide network of affiliated companies, joint-ventures and local distributors and customers in over 50 countries worldwide, current general counsel Amalia Tovlatidou has a challenging task of delivering legal solutions in a dynamic company that operates in a highly regulated industry.

Tovlatidou initially joined the company in 2012 as legal counsel but after a year-long spell in Colgate-Palmolive’s Greek legal function, re-joined Gerolymatos and assumed her current position in January 2018. Providing legal counsel to the CEO and CFO regarding the day-to-day business as well as any other applicable issues, she has been recognised for aligning her function closely to the business units it serves, as well as her skill in obtaining licenses, negotiations and getting M&A deals over the line. In her first spell at Gerolymatos, Tovlatidou assisted the organisation in recovering control of its pharmaceutical manufacturing plant, the launch of new cold and flu products and deals struck with Galencia to form a joint venture with Affinity Petcare to expand its veterinary pharmaceutical product portfolio.

Prior to Gerolymatos, Tovlatidou enjoyed successful in-house spells at listed healthcare companies Medimeq and Alapis Group as well as private practice stints at KGDI Law Firm and Nikas & Nikas Theisen between 2001 and 2009.
