What are the most significant cases and transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

In 2021-22 our legal department advised, inter alia, the acquisitions of McKesson UK, APS (former Panasonic’s European Consumer Battery Business), SSE Contracting, Minova Group, Ceramic Tile Distributors, Dental Bauer, and Pluradent by AURELIUS’ co-investment structure comprising the AURELIUS European Opportunities IV Fund and the AURELIUS Equity Opportunities.

How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?

The work of our legal department was already quite remote even before the pandemic, so therefore the world of work has not changed much in this regard. But the present various developments in our general economic environment will increase the demand of businesses for internal legal advice, and hence increase the legal departments potential to seize market opportunities.

How much influence do you, as a general counsel, have on the diversity and inclusions policies of your organisation?

Given a higher ratio of diversity in the legal profession in general, resulting in a higher diversity ratio in the legal departments, the legal departments are set for leading by example.
