Leading the legal department of Deutsche Telekom, Dr Claudia Junker has been the general counsel of the German telecommunications giant since November 2010. A multi-faceted lawyer with a tremendous amount of experience complimenting a high level of corporate nous; Junker has the important position of overseeing all legal matters of the company. Before joining Deutsche Telekom, Dr Junker attained several years’ experience as a lawyer in private practice where she specialised in corporate law and M&A transactions in particular, gaining an understanding of the Deutsche Telekom business during this time. In addition to her general counsel role, Junker actively contributes to the body of knowledge in the law and wider industry, she teaches at Cologne University, has published many different pieces of literature on topics such as corporate law, women in the law and the role of in-house legal counsel. Also showing her commitment to establishing links to her peers in the in-house world and the desire to facilitate the maximum amount of knowledge possible, she is active across several industry bodies including as member of the executive committee of the German Federal Association of In-house Lawyers, the European General Counsel Association, the Committee for Economy and Law and the professional law committee of the German Lawyers’ Association.
