French multinational Vallourec is a world-leading supplier of steel tubes and related technologies to the energy and industrial sectors. It specialises in producing materials that can withstand extreme conditions and has provided special high tensile steel for a number of architecturally challenging structures, including the Stade de France, the Grande Arche de la Défense, Wembley Stadium and One World Trade Center. With a complex network of research, manufacturing and sales operations, Vallourec is exposed to a broad range of legal and compliance issues. These are overseen by a small, global legal team led from Paris by general counsel, compliance officer, and corporate secretary Stéphanie Fougou, who also sits as a member of the group management committee. As president of the Association Française des Juristes d’Entreprise – France’s professional association of in-house lawyers – Fougou is a well-known figure in the French legal community. However, the wider team was also named by nominators, with legal counsel Youcef El Maouhab receiving special mention for his work.
