A major player in the aerospace and defence industry for decades, and responsible for a number of successful and well-recognised designs over the years, Dassault Aviation continues to constitute a major part of France’s booming defence sector. 2015 revenue for the company was over €4bn and a number of exciting projects are posited for the company’s future, including updated versions of their Falcon series of business jets, pointing towards a bright future. The regulatory milestones to surmount when launching a new jet product into the market are immense, with the Falcon project being no exception, and the Dassault legal team has had a number of recent successes in this regard. For instance, in April 2017 they successfully completed all regulatory checks for their Falcon 8X business jet at London City Airport, a key destination for the business market due to its popularity with corporate clients. The fact that London City is one of the most demanding airports to receive operating clearance for, and that this has been achieved only seven months after the jet entered production, makes this achievement even more impressive. The legal team has also performed much needed oversight and due diligence work on some truly momentous sales efforts, including their 2016 sale of 36 Rafale fighter jets to the Indian Air Force in a deal worth €7.8bn, with the first deliveries being made in 2019. The in-house legal team contains exceptional individuals such as Olivier Fouillard and Marc Ducrest, both of whom received praise from external sources.
