About

Arnaud Flandé joined Alten in 2012 as the group general counsel. As part of a fast growing engineering technology consulting firm, with €1.98bn of revenues and 28,000 employees, he has been able to create a strong legal function able to adapt to this rapid growth. He started his career as a contract and IP lawyer, which has given him a ‘very sensitive business approach in a technological and international environment.

I am able to have a technical conversation with an engineer’. Flandé has been responsible for rebuilding the legal function, which was impaired by years of head vacancies. He did this by opening 24 positions of lawyers within the group in seven countries to support the dramatic growth of the company. He has since made the group corporate legal team a strong team partnering with the CEO and the board of directors, something which has helped the group to move from a family business to a large group. Thanks to him, the legal team is a business partner to the operations, with a business focus approach rather than a risk prohibition approach – leading to overall better involvement of the legal teams in business operations. Under his supervision the team has managed up to four deals simultaneously, ‘I have worked all my career with very good CFO’s and I learnt a lot from them. I have a very good financial background which helped me to move from a contractual practice to the corporate field’ says Flandé. He has been involved in almost all acquisitions conducted by Alten over the last six years, with more than 50 deals closed.

Amongst his largest deals is the purchase of a U.S consulting group with an international foot print and the purchase of the subsidiaries of a French engineering services group specialised in the aeronautic sector. The latter occurred with a listed seller under restructuring proceedings obliging to negotiate with the seller, its creditors, the French stock-exchange authority and the French government. Prior to this role he served as the deputy corporate secretary at Econocom, an IT leasing, distribution and services organisation with €1.4bn of revenues and 3,000 employees.
