Having joined SoLocal Group, a leader in digital communication, in 2005, Alexandre De Tourtier has gained thorough experience of the company’s operations whilst also building his reputation as a highly skilled and commercially aware French in-house lawyer.

He has served as group general counsel of the company since 2011, picking up industry awards for his direction of the legal function along the way. The function he heads consists of 15 people divided into three departments, evincing his management and organisational abilities to ensure all aspects of SoLocal Group’s legal remit are covered. Explaining the effect of transforming the organisation and culture of the legal department, De Tourtier says the following: ‘The legal management culture is based on the exchange and the listening of the operational ones: our responsibility is to understand the problems of the operational ones and to find with them solutions’.

He adds, ‘the legal department aims to be an added value for the company. To this end, it aims to ensure that the advice it provides and the positions it takes are value-creating both in the management of the immediate risk and in the protection and sustainability of the company’s business long term’. Prior to joining SoLocal, De Tourtier had notable stints in the legal departments of distinguished French companies, Danone and Orange.
