What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
 
As part of the most important insurance company in the country, we have faced during the 50 years of existence of Seguros Equinoccial, may significant transactions. To mention a few, during the past year we assumed the merge with another insurance company part of the same group, that now a days has strengthened our market position. Regarding the business we have handled some complicated insurance cases in front of the regulator (SCVS) that have upgraded to the judicial courts, with the most positive outcomes, in different lines of business like bonds, P&C, and life. 
 

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?  

Our company values are of the utmost importance in connecting with all kinds of external providers and stakeholders. Choosing external lawyers to work with is no the exception. We are permanently evaluating the services and commitment with our values of our external partners in the legal support for the business. 

 

Why are in-house lawyers well-placed to drive change in their organisations?    

In-house lawyers have a double vision of the organisation, we must understand the business in order to make things happen in a compliance frame that allows present and future revenues of the management decisions. This role gives us the advantage to address constant change and adaptability that business vision and strategy requires.

 

How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners? 

Transparency and commitment with business partners needs is the key to built strong relationships with partners, stakeholders and all along with the organisation.
