Career Biography

Enid Edroma is a Ugandan legal executive with more than 25 years’ experience across telecommunications and the public sector in East Africa. She is currently General Manager, Corporate Services and Company Secretary at MTN Uganda Limited, Uganda’s largest telecommunications company and the largest companies listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange. She serves as Chief Legal Adviser to the Board and Management, sits on the Executive Committee, and leads a team of 21 across six functions covering legal, telecommunication regulation, governance, stakeholder engagement, corporate communications and sustainability, including ESG leadership and the integration of sustainability into MTN Uganda’s governance, reporting and shared-value agenda. Her career spans in-house counsel, public sector leadership, regional telecommunications and private practice, with senior roles at the National Identification and Registration Authority, Smile Communications, Celtel/Zain Uganda, Shell Uganda and leading commercial law firms.

At MTN Uganda she has led the legal and regulatory workstreams on the matters that most shaped the company’s operating position: the negotiation and renewal of its national telecommunications licence under exceptionally difficult conditions; the structural separation of the fintech business from the telecommunications business; and the company’s listing on the Uganda Securities Exchange. She has directed the response to significant tax audits, litigation and policy negotiations, led election-period compliance, and resolved disputes carrying material commercial exposure. Each required technical depth, but also commercial judgement, discretion and the ability to hold alignment across regulators, government, the Board, management and shareholders when the institutional stakes were highest.

Enid’s leadership is characterised by clarity under pressure and a preference for practical resolution over procedural comfort. She is trusted by regulators and boards alike to give advice that is candid rather than convenient, and to influence outcomes without trading away governance standards. She is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and a member of the Uganda Law Society, the East African Law Society and mentors emerging professionals in corporate and regulatory practice.
