First, can you please give us an idea of the sort of work your team has done recently?
In the last year, our team has worked on projects linked to compliance with national and international regulations. We have continued to support the different business units with constant advice to facilitate the achievement of their objectives. We have also participated in the expansion plans of our portfolio of hotels, both managed and owned, creating structures that facilitate their operations, obtaining permits and licences, as well as standardising processes that support day-to-day management.
 

How do you stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations in the Dominican Republic relevant to your organisation’s industry? 

 It is important for my organisation to receive comprehensive updates that cover the different sectors which directly influence our operations, as well as our interaction with other companies in the sector. It is equally important for us to understand the social and economic needs of the communities in which we conduct business and for which we bear social responsibility. 

 In the case of the hotel industry, hotels belonging to other groups have strengthened their response to the specific needs of the sector, thanks to their participation in associations supporting shared objectives has facilitated our engagement with governmental and private sectors. This collaboration allows for joint project proposals, legislative efforts, and to be heard in different areas, all aimed at growing and consolidating the sector.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?   

 In general, I am concerned with the level of responsiveness, to the needs that arise, in the hotel and tourism sector. Our industry has a significant impact country’s image, brand, and global perception, which in turn impacts other businesses who are dependent on our sector. Having well-defined strategies, properly disseminated and updated according to trends, can facilitate a systematic and effective management of situations that arise in the short, mid, and long term.
