What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

Over the past year, the ROCKWOOL Group Legal & Compliance team has been engaged in a range of significant and complex matters reflecting the Group’s strategic priorities and international footprint. This has been made possible by a strong team of highly skilled professionals who all contribute with the same commitment and sense of ownership – whether newly onboarded or long-standing senior colleagues. We have strong individual capabilities across the function, combined with a close, collaborative way of working, which has been key to delivering consistent, high-quality support to the business.

Notable highlights have been our involvement in several significant M&A processes.  Over the past year, a significant focus has been our Russian subsidiaries and business and the related and ever evolving sanctions landscape. This includes actions taken from the Russian authorities. In parallel with the above and our other legal tasks, we have prioritised strengthening and simplifying core compliance initiatives across the Group. The emphasis has been on driving simpl city, consistency and practicality in how we work, and on improving “Trust&Motivation”, collaboration and ownership across the organisation. Further, we have progressed on legal operations, including implementing enhanced and optimised contract archiving and strengthening the Group’s subsidiary/corporate documentation set-up. In addition, we had a broader step-up in the use of AI across the legal function to improve efficiency and knowledge sharing.

What are some of the biggest legal or regulatory challenges currently facing your industry, and how is your team preparing to address them?

The construction and building materials sector is undergoing significant regulatory transformation, particularly in Europe. Key challenges include navigating the rapidly evolving ESG and sustainability landscape – alongside increasing scrutiny of supply chains and product compliance requirements. Cybersecurity regulation is also an increasingly important frontier including the NIS 2 implementation. Our legal team works closely with the business to ensure proactive compliance, embedding legal risk management into strategic decision-making early in the process rather than as an afterthought. We have also invested in building strengthened internal expertise around data privacy and AI governance, areas that are becoming increasingly relevant across all business functions.

How does your team contribute to the overall business strategy of the company?

The Group Legal & Compliance team at ROCKWOOL operates as a part of the business. We are involved at early stages of key initiatives, ensuring that legal considerations are part of strategy rather than simply reacting to it.
