Team size: Seven

Jurisdictions your role covers: Globally, with a current presence in Denmark, United Kingdom and Singapore

What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

In a global business spanning project logistics and more conventional cargo across all modes of transport, our legal team’s mission is to support and enable the business in delivering service to our clients. While we manage risk carefully and support our business in handling and mitigating it, we are determined to maintain that our primary focus is on facilitating growth, structuring opportunities, and creating commercially sustainable solutions in close cooperation with our commercial and operational colleagues.

Legal is closely involved at bid stage and in strategic development initiatives, where contract design, structures, and insurance alignment directly influence our business. We work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, and suppliers to build the basis for successful collaboration, execution and efficiencies that benefit all parties.

What factors influence your team’s decision to use external legal services versus handling matters in-house, and what criteria are used to evaluate their performance?

Our decision to use external legal counsel is based on quality and value-add, and driven by for example complexity, jurisdictional exposure, local or domestic insight and strategic importance. We typically retain external counsel for where specialism is needed and where local legal assistance in a specific jurisdiction is required. Contract negotiation, subcontractor alignment, insurance coordination, and day-to-day compliance are predominantly managed internally. We evaluate external firms not only on legal expertise, but also on commercial awareness, responsiveness, cost transparency, and their ability to provide pragmatic solutions aligned with our operational realities.

How does your team contribute to the overall business strategy of the company? Can you share an example of a recent legal-led initiative that had a significant impact?

Our team contributes to the overall business strategy by acting as an accessible, commercially aligned partner to the business. In a global company like ours, our legal team can add most value if we are involved early. We therefore prioritise being close to the business, approachable, and solution-oriented – so colleagues see us as part of the daily activities and a natural part of our business rather than a more distant control function.

What are some of the biggest legal or regulatory challenges currently facing your industry, and how is your team preparing to address them?

For us, some of the regulatory challenges include changes in customs laws and tariffs and regulations applicable to trade and global commerce. Some initiatives are introduced with short notice, which requires us to be agile. Overall, our approach is built around proactive monitoring, operational integration and awareness, and continuous improvement to manage compliance while protecting efficiency and business continuity.
