Career Biography

Daniel Alfonso Perea Villa is a lawyer, business executive and member of boards of directors with more than twenty-five years of experience in management positions. He leads transformation, growth and value creation processes that he combines with his role as general counsel. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated that the law not only protects organisations, but is also a strategic tool to boost competitiveness, facilitate innovation and generate sustainable growth.

His has experience in highly regulated sectors, leading the legal structuring of highly complex business operations, M&A, international expansion, regulatory authorisation of new businesses and defense of antitrust. Likewise, he has designed corporate governance frameworks and policies, as well as legal strategies that have strengthened the positioning and growth of organisations.

He currently serves as chief transformation officer (CTO) and VP of corporate and legal affairs at Organización Terpel S.A., where he leads the integration of the legal function with business strategy, organisational transformation, sustainability, corporate reputation, communications, public affairs and institutional relations. In this position, he has contributed to expanding the scope of the legal function within senior management, consolidating it as a key vehicle for decision-making, the construction of competitive advantages and the creation of long-term value.

His ability to combine legal excellence with a deep understanding of the business and its environment has allowed him to be a member of boards of directors and accompany executive teams in relevant corporate processes. Convinced that the law must create value as well as protect it, he has promoted a vision of the corporate lawyer as a leader capable of integrating strategy, risk management, transformation, sustainability, innovation and institutional strengthening.

In addition to his executive responsibility, for several years he has been active on the boards of directors of companies and organisations in various sectors, providing a comprehensive vision of strategy, corporate governance, reputation, sustainability and value creation. At the same time, he dedicates a significant part of his time to educational institutions and non-profit organisations, believing that education is the fundamental axis of his personal purpose and the most powerful instrument to transform lives and contribute to the development of more equitable and free societies.

He is a lawyer from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, a specialist in Administrative Law from the same university and in Commercial Law from the Universidad de los Andes, has an MBA and a Master’s Degree in International Leadership from EADA Business School, as well as executive training at IE Business School, Yale University and MIT.

His career represents a modern vision for the practice of the legal function: to combine technical excellence, strategic vision and business leadership to strengthen institutional trust, drive organisational transformation and generate sustainable value.
