What will be the main focus of your company in the next 12 months, and how do you intend to assist with that?

I am currently transitioning into this new role. I am settling into the company and getting familiar with the company, its objectives and needs. My main focus is to become an ally to the business, working with all other departments and managers and supporting them closely in their operations. I am responsible as legal counsel for providing them with the assistance they need in every process.

What advice would you give to an aspiring in-house lawyer or general counsel?

The advice I would give is to understand where you are working. Only by really knowing the company you can comprehend its real needs and goals.

Internal lawyers are allies of the business, and we work in order to let them grow. We are responsible for finding legal opportunities to accomplish such milestones while providing tailored and thorough advice and taking into account the risks in every operation.

Another piece of advice I would give is to ask questions. You do not have to know everything; however, if you never ask, you will never understand.
