What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

We have finalised the acquisition of La Fete and its entire corporate structure; made incentive mechanisms possible for the integration of dairy farmers into regenerative agriculture programs; land purchases and execution of lines for the expansion of factories in Teno (Petcare) and Los Angeles (Dairy Culinary business); successful collective bargaining process with five unions for more than 25,000 union members.

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?

Due diligence process of our external legal counsel regarding its values ​​and purpose is fundamental. We currently work with Carey and Ferrada Nehme, who are fully aligned with our values on relevant issues such as diversity and inclusion, gender balance, ethical standard, compliance and sustainability.

Why are in-house lawyers well-placed to drive change in their organisations?

Companies’ worth is intrinsically connected to their corporate reputation and consumer trust. The best guardians to prevent, monitor and solve problems that may affect companies on those two issues are their in-house lawyers, hence their importance to the entire structure.
