What are the major projects or initiatives you have worked on that you are most proud of?
The bank issued the first sustainable bank bond in Guatemala to finance social and green projects. The company has embedded sustainability practices into its core operations by offering financial products designed to support women, communities, and small businesses. In addition, a sustainability structure has been established at both regional and local levels, involving top executives and directors to oversee and support all initiatives. Promerica has also committed to and adheres to the Sustainable Development Goals, with the General Counsel playing a key role in guiding, implementing, and ensuring compliance with these sustainable practices across the organisation.
How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?
Our team is composed predominantly of women (75%), and we have been working closely with HR to advance women’s careers by creating new positions within our Legal Department.
In your opinion, what are the main trends that are salient in your country currently?
Basically, issues regarding ESG, tax and regulation, and reputational risk.
