Career biography
Cristina Alfaro
Cristina Alfaro joined Citi in July 2001 and currently serves as the General Counsel in Costa Rica. In this role, she oversees legal affairs and corporate governance for both the financial group and the Shared Service Center. Mrs. Alfaro also acts as a liaison for local regulators and coordinates corporate governance matters for the franchise. Previously, she served as the General Manager for the corporate banking license prior to the divestiture process in February 2016.
Her professional experience includes her tenure as In-house Counsel for Corporación Desarrollo Agrícola Del Monte (2000-2001) and Senior Legal Counsel for Banco Nacional de Costa Rica (1995-2000).
Ms. Alfaro is an Attorney at Law and Notary Public, holding degrees from the Universidad de Costa Rica. She further enhanced her legal expertise with a Master’s in Commercial Law from the same university and a degree in International Legal Affairs from INCAE Business School and Georgetown University.
Cristina is an active member of the Costa Rican Bar Association and previously served as Co-chairman of the Citi Costa Rica Women’s Council.
