The experienced legal team at the Toronto Stock Exchange is led by managing director Julie Shin, an expert in corporate finance, securities law and corporate governance. She leads a team of expert lawyers and financial professionals assisting one of Canada’s most important financial institutions. The TMX Group – of which the Exchange is a wholly owned subsidiary – includes a variety of subsidiary marketplaces for differently classed assets including TSX Venture Exchange, TSX Alpha Exchange, Canadian Depository for Securities, Montréal Exchange, Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation and Trayport. It also provides analysis of listing markets, trading markets, clearing, depository, and technology and data solutions in locations in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and New York as well as in London, Beijing and Singapore. In October 2018, Montreal Exchange (MX) announced a joint initiative with the Montréal Institute for Data Valorization (IVADO) to study market surveillance and address negative market behaviours. The legal team was instrumental in securing this three year partnership deal. Additionally, MX announced its new trading hours which will include London trading time from 2:30am to expand the reach of the market, facilitating easier investment from Europe.
