Since 1995 LG Electronics has become a global leader in electronics, IT and communication technology, and has a major presence in the country’s well established tech scene. In Canada, LG is split into five production areas with revenues of more than US$49bn: Mobile communications, home appliance, home entertainment, business solutions and commercial air conditioning. LG’s in-house legal team is celebrated for its expert provision of legal service when facilitating the company’s innovations. In the last year the team has been involved in the launch of new products and agreements such as its partnership with Microsoft, announced in January 2019, to aid LG’s autonomous vehicle artificial intelligence development program. Additionally, LG announced in August 2018 that it was launching a new LG Electronics artificial intelligence research laboratory in conjunction with the University of Toronto. Research partnerships drive the innovation of LG’s products and are facilitated along with other matters by the diligent negotiations and monitoring of its exemplary in-house legal department.
