With products spanning across life, health, retirement and investment products and services including asset management and reinsurance in Canada, the US and Europe, the company demands a high degree of versatility and experience from its legal department. Great-West Lifeco holds C$1.3tn in assets under its administration, trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange, and manages the London Life, Canada Life, Irish Life, Great-West Financial and Putnam Investments subsidiary brands with locations in the UK, Ireland, Canada, the US and other markets in Europe requiring a range of skills from the in-house legal team. In the last year, the team has worked on a number of deals and transactions. These include the firm’s purchase agreement and sale of notes involving BMO Capital Markets and BMO Nesbitt Burns, with brokerage by J.P. Morgan Securities, RBC Capital Markets, and Wells Fargo Securities.
