Career Biography

Lisa is vice president, head of corporate affairs, legal, and diversity and inclusion at ArcelorMittal Dofasco, responsible for all legal, compliance, company secretary, governance, corporate communications, sustainable development, government relations and trade, and diversity & inclusion matters. Lisa is also regional general counsel, Canada, ArcelorMittal, responsible for all legal, compliance, company secretary and governance matters for ArcelorMittal’s other Canadian business units.

Lisa also serves as a member of the ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s Pension Committee and Audit and Risk Committee, a mentor in the ArcelorMittal Group mentoring program, and a sponsor in ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s sponsorship program ‘Elevate’. In 2023 she and her team were awarded the ArcelorMittal Performance Excellence Award for Responsible Leadership.

Prior to joining ArcelorMittal Group, Lisa was a partner with the Toronto office at an international law firm engaged in a broad corporate/commercial law practice with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, infrastructure financing, and governance and regulatory compliance.

She is an active member of her community. Most recently she is a member of Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters’ national board of directors, a member of the board of directors of Royal Botanical Gardens, and a member of WGCC – Women General Counsel of Canada.

 The ArcelorMittal Canadian legal and compliance team advises on all legal and compliance matters – supporting our steel and mining businesses in dealing with all matters relating to governance, corporate-commercial negotiations and contracting, regulatory frameworks, health and safety, environment, risk assessment, litigation, M&A, strategic partnerships, industrial projects, employment and labour, immigration, privacy, and data management. We also continue to support our trade, financial, commercial, procurement and strategy teams on issues regarding trade and legislative changes; continually monitoring the trade and regulatory landscape to understand the impact on our businesses as well as on our customers and suppliers.

Over the past year, the ArcelorMittal Canadian legal and compliance team has provided exceptional direction, guidance and support, partnering with their business partners, to manage the direction of, or responses to, several recent critical trade cases, to address the U.S. tariffs and the Canadian retaliatory surtaxes and trade measures, and the evolving complexity of ESG issues impacting our Canadian steel and mining businesses.

The in-house team strives for continuous improvement driven through cooperation, collaboration and diversity of thoughts and ideas – working to protect our businesses and advanced manufacturing in Canada. The team understands that to be a meaningful strategic partner to the businesses, they need to understand the businesses and provide legal advice that takes into account the businesses and the geopolitical environment in which they and their customers and suppliers operate.  By working with the business, the ArcelorMittal Canadian team is better able to align to, protect, and support the business goals and advance the business.
