Career Biography
With more than 20 years of experience in corporate law, governance, compliance and strategic transactions, Luciana Fraga Mello has built her career advising multinational and publicly traded companies across highly regulated industries, including energy, mining, logistics, infrastructure and healthcare. Recognized for combining strong technical expertise with a pragmatic and business-oriented mindset, she has consistently partnered with executive leadership teams, Boards of Directors and senior stakeholders to support sustainable growth, strengthen governance structures and navigate complex legal and regulatory environments.
Luciana serves as Latin America Chief Compliance, Risks & Internal Controls Officer at EDF Power Solutions, where she leads regional compliance, risk management and internal controls initiatives across Latin America. In this role, she is responsible for strengthening governance standards, harmonizing best practices and supporting strategic transactions and business expansion throughout the region. Previously, she served as Chief Legal, Compliance and Risks Officer at EDF Renewables, where she led the restructuring of the legal and compliance function and advised on high-impact contractual, regulatory and corporate matters.
Before joining EDF, Luciana held senior legal and governance positions at Tegma Gestão Logística, Nexa Resources, Hypera Pharma and Renova Energia. Throughout her career, she has developed deep expertise in corporate, corporate governance, capital markets, M&A, compliance, investigations, internal controls and risk management, with extensive experience supporting the day-to-day legal operations of listed companies. Her work has included advising Boards and Committees, overseeing disclosure obligations, coordinating governance routines and acting as Corporate Governance Secretary.
Luciana has also played a leading role in significant domestic and cross-border transactions, including IPOs, follow-on offerings, debenture issuances, project finance transactions, acquisitions and corporate restructurings. Earlier in her career, while working at leading international law firm Shearman & Sterling LLP, she advised on landmark capital markets transactions.
