What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

In 2025, the key challenges were closely linked to the competitive landscape in Brazil, as well as the company’s rapid growth, dynamism, and pace, alongside ongoing technological transformation.

In this context, the Legal team supported major projects to expand the logistics network, including the addition of new dedicated aircraft for MeliAir and new fulfilment centres. Furthermore, we assisted in structuring several consumer-focused initiatives, such as double-date promotional campaigns and Black Friday, contracts with high-profile personalities (e.g. João Fonseca), free shipping from R$19, among other initiatives including two editions of the Meli Music event held at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu.

The analysis and implementation of new business lines also form part of the department’s daily activities, with particular emphasis on: (i) the B2C marketplace segment, launched to enable businesses to purchase in larger volumes; and (ii) the acquisition of the Cuidamos pharmacy, which was approved without restrictions by the competition authority.

The Legal team also supported the company’s decision-making in the methanol case, where, during the public health crisis, restrictions were placed on the sale of distilled beverages on the platform—an initiative that was praised by government bodies.

Lastly, several technological and artificial intelligence tools were developed to improve efficiency and productivity within the department. This journey is only just beginning, but a number of projects have already been implemented, such as the automation of workflows, requests, and responses to regulatory inspections on the company’s platforms, resulting in greater cost efficiency, speed, and accuracy.

What new pressures are you facing from the business as expectations for legal to act as a strategic partner continue to grow?

In a dynamic, disruptive, and constantly growing market, there is a challenge in meeting demands at the required speed without compromising the high quality expected. A deep understanding of the business and excellence in delivery are prerequisites; however, it is necessary to go further to add value and truly differentiate.

This involves leading by example as an ambassador of the company’s culture, while remaining attentive to market developments and the legal landscape, anticipating changes and contributing effectively. There is a strong demand for creativity and the use of technology (including AI) to deliver work that is efficient, productive, high-quality, and precise, in line with the company’s objectives.

How have economic fluctuations, exchange‑rate volatility or supply‑chain pressures in 2026 influenced your legal priorities?

Situations such as these, which directly impact the company’s profitability, require responses that typically depend on legal support for their implementation. From straightforward contractual reviews to the development of new business solutions, the Legal team plays a key role in shaping strategy and supporting its execution.

The situation becomes more complex in a highly competitive environment, placing further pressure on profit margins and driving initiatives aimed at mitigating such losses. Naturally, in this context, pressure is felt across the entire organisation and at all levels, with an even greater emphasis on delivering results.

In addition, prioritisation and responsiveness become critical, as delays may have irreversible consequences.
