What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

This year, the Warner Bros Discovery group is undergoing the integration of Discovery and WarnerMedia companies and the legal team is fully involved in all aspects of this process. Along with all this change, we also have the challenge of working in an industry that is undergoing major transformations, such as the media and entertainment industry.

As we live in a fast-paced world today, what skills will a corporate legal team need to succeed in the modern in-house industry?

In addition to technical knowledge, the corporate legal team needs to understand the business of the company for which it works, and the context in which it operates, in view of the complexity of business, business relationships and legislation, as well as international control and transparency methods. The in-house legal team must be business-oriented both in risk assessment and in litigation prevention, with the aim of building the best model to achieve the desired result, always seeking an environment open to innovation and evolution. Finally, the diversity of the team, with its different knowledge and experiences, is a fundamental factor for a successful, purposeful and creative team.

How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?

The development of a relationship with business partners should be based on trust, credibility and the recognition that the lawyer’s role in carrying out the business within the parameters established by management, with strategic thinking, planning, negotiation skills and identification of possible opportunities .
