Luciana Freire is the executive superintendent of the legal department at Banco BMG, one of Brazil’s largest commercial banks. She has been in this role since 2013 having nearly 30 years of legal experience with a majority of that time spent in-house. Freire is responsible for the legal advisory and litigation functions within the bank and its subsidiaries, and covers a wide remit of commercial banking products, corporate policy, contracts, and treasury as well as civil and labour litigation. In 2016, the bank completed the sale of its stake in its joint venture Banco Itau BMG Consignado, to Itau Unibanco, a major project for the bank’s legal department. Since then it has continued to be a dominant player in the Brazilian consumer banking market offering a wide range of investment products for individuals and corporations continuing to win industry awards for its quality and efficiency, particularly in its investor relations and credit card payroll products.
