For just over a year Carolina Azevedo has served as legal director for Brazil as part of Ericcson Telecomunicações’ global restructuring process. The company is now structured with the Brazil, South America, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean sectors separated, a division of the once consolidated unit. Azevedo previously led the Latin American unit and now turns her attention solely to Brazil – Ericsson’s largest market in Latin America. In the last three years Ericsson has secured multiple major deals and partnerships increasing the Swedish tech firm’s investment and innovation in Brazil. With Azevedo’s input, in 2017, Ericsson announced a deal with Cisco to strengthen the Nextel IP routers across Brazil, and most recently in 2018 Ericsson announced a partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to implement a large infrastructure project installing the largest “internet of things” capabilities and solutions in the areas of agriculture, vehicle and asset tracking devices to increase the development of smart cities in Brazil.
