Serving as the general counsel at PwC Luxembourg for over 11 years, Marc Vandemeulebroeke is responsible for general legal support for relationships with suppliers and clients, especially in the financial sector. Vandemeulebroeke is present and gives assistance to all corporate services, including marketing, HR, technology, infrastructure and provides substantial training on legal and regulatory issues. He reveals that ‘working in a team with colleagues from the business, instead of advising “from the outside”’, is a highlight of his in-house career. During his time at PwC he takes pride in having successfully turned a compliance practice into an actual legal advisory unit, and become what Vandemeulebroeke describes as a, ‘true business partner for client-facing colleagues’. With a background in international bank financing transactions and banking litigation he has become an expert in advising on banking regulatory and compliance matters. He also has a firm grasp on issues including anti-money laundering programmes and compliance officer issues. He has previously demonstrated acute knowledge in the area of capital markets including stock exchanges, funds and distribution and cash management issues, working on takeover bids and related matters including regulatory and litigation aspects. Vandemeulebroeke is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce, Financial Services Committee. He is also a member of the Forum des Juristes d’Entreprises based in Luxembourg.
