Igor Makedonsky has served as a lawyer active in the telecommunications sector since 1990. After an initial experience as a legal counsel and European law specialist in the legal department of Belgacom, he decided to join the Belgian institute for post and telecommunications services (“BIPT”) where he assisted the general manager in charge of the development of the regulation of the telecoms market. In 1998, he re-joined the regulatory department of Proximus, the new brand name of the former Belgacom, as a telecommunication law expert under the capacity of senior legal counsel. Over the years, Makedonsky has led teams of lawyers to oversee the company’s activities within the areas of telecommunications law, competition law and privacy law, building a strong expertise in the legal assistance to the development of telecommunication and broadband services of the business. Since 2011 he has assumed additional responsibilities within the company, leading a team of 30 lawyers covering a full range of legal activities. From 2005 to 2012, Makedonsky was also a member of the council of the Belgian Institute of Company lawyers.
