Career Biography

Mag. Dr. Rainer Schüch, LL.M., is Head of Legal at WIENER LOKALBAHNEN GmbH and an Authorised Signatory of the company. In 2025, he additionally served as Managing Director and Project Lead for the sale of Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo GmbH.

Prior to joining WIENER LOKALBAHNEN in 2024, Rainer spent more than a decade at WIEN ENERGIE, Austria’s largest energy utility, where he held several senior legal leadership positions, including Head of Corporate and M&A and Deputy Head of Legal. Earlier in his career, he practised as a lawyer with international law firms, advising on complex corporate, finance and transactional matters.

Rainer has extensive expertise in renewable energy, infrastructure, M&A, private equity, corporate law and financing transactions, with a particular focus on Central and Eastern Europe. He is also experienced in leading cross-functional teams and managing strategic projects in highly regulated industries.

He holds degrees in law from the University of Vienna and Erasmus University Rotterdam, including an LL.M. and a Doctor of Law degree, and passed the Austrian Bar Examination in 2007.
