About

Monash University, Australia’s largest university, is a truly global institution with five Australian campuses, a campus in Malaysia, a joint graduate school in China, a learning centre in Italy, and a research centre in India. Having served as the organisation’s deputy general counsel since 2010, Susan Anderson has a thorough knowledge of the University’s operations and has been involved on virtually all major projects related to its growth and expansion since then.

During this year’s research, nominators were quick to highlight her achievements in the role as well as her capability to effortlessly handle legal affairs whilst being closely aligned to the best interests of the university. Anderson works in conjunction with Monash University’s general counsel and university solicitor Julianne Wantrup to provide outstanding counsel in a way that is risk-averse, compliant and allows the institution to flourish commercially. Prior to Monash, Anderson held private practice roles at law firms Clayton Utz and Gilbert + Tobin. She gained her LLB from the University of Queensland in 1986.
