Pioneering biotechnology company Biogen’s cutting-edge remedies for neurological and neurodegenerative conditions in the Southern Cone are managed from its regional base in Argentina, which has been in operation since 2008. The company’s legal capabilities have been expanded recently, with legal and compliance associate director Bartolome Cordero joining in November 2017 and legal and compliance advisor Esteban Ruete joining in January of the same year. These outstanding lawyers, both with experience of managing departments (Cordero was previously head legal, compliance and business development and licensing at Sandoz Argentina while Ruete was country manager for BARBUSS legal services), provide the company with significant in-house firepower with which to tackle the complex groundwork needed to research, establish and support company’s products. Given the highly regulated and highly scrutinised sector it operates in, the Biogen legal function covering Argentina, Chile and Uruguay deserves very high plaudits for its work.
